Bio
Piet Mondrian (1872–1944) was a pioneering figure in modern art, best known for his role in developing the abstract movement De Stijl. Beginning with traditional Dutch landscapes, Mondrian gradually moved towards a radical visual language of straight lines, geometric forms, and primary colours. His Neo-Plastic works sought to express universal harmony through balance and simplicity, reducing painting to its essential elements. Through his influential compositions of grids, colour blocks, and precise structures, Mondrian transformed the possibilities of abstraction and remains one of the most important artists of the 20th century.
