For over three decades American painter Scott Kahn has distilled his memories into subtly odd oil on canvas. Our debut collaboration, Spring Moon, Grant Street typifies the artist’s penchant for beguiling, symmetrical composition.

Each 21-layer screenprint is hand-finished in oil paint with an extensive layer of detail, seeing Kahn add blossom and leaves to the outstretched branches of the moonlit trees — a laborious process that adds depth and texture to the work’s surface and makes every print unique.

Framing

Can be ordered high float-mounted in a wooden frame, painted black with visible grain and fitted with UV plexiglass for protection.

Medium

21 layer screenprint on Somerset Tub Sized RW 410gsm, uniquely hand finished by the artist with oil paints.

Certificate of Authenticity

Arrives with a certificate of authenticity.

Signed, dated and numbered by the artist.

Scott Kahn2 collaborationsKahn’s carefully composed oil paintings are predominantly landscapes, but also include portraits, interiors and still life. The works pay close attention to light and depth, honing in on specific details like a branch, a reflection or the light of the moon. Memory is a key theme for Kahn who is keen to express the emotional condition of the places he recalls, rather than their exact physicality. As a result, he creates a subtle form of autobiography through his meditative and methodical painting process. Influences include an eclectic cohort of modernist painters, from the abstraction of Lee Krasner and Mark Rothko, to the figuration of Francis Bacon and Otto Dix and the surrealism of Dora Maar and René Magritte.
