Our latest collaboration with Felipe Pantone transforms a key piece from his defining Chromadynamica series into a new limited edition print.

Chromadynamica 19 P sets colour gradients in motion, taking its name from ancient Greek derivatives for the words ‘colour’ and ‘dynamics’. The pixelated composition references the fast-paced, ever-shifting nature of our digital world, suggesting that change is the only constant thing we have.

Felipe originally created the piece with a Dibond structure, masking tape and enamel spray paint. The process of translating it into an archival pigment print was meticulous, with the artist working alongside our master printmakers to precisely translate the colour grading. The resulting print edition not only remains true to what the artist calls the "vibrant intensity" of the original artwork, but it also takes on a new, powerful life of its own.

I think we’re living in times of rapid transformation, driven by technology and the digital age. This piece is a way for me to reflect on and reference that.

Felipe Pantone
Felipe Pantone profile
Felipe Pantone8 collaborationsPantone, also known as Pant1, is renowned for his glitchy abstract patterns which draw from digital culture of past and present. Combining monochrome geometry and pixelated multicoloured neons, the works reference early video games, 80s Synth Pop and noughties Emo and Scene Kid subcultures. This nostalgic retro futurism is central to Pantone’s practice, exploring notions of futurity in a post-internet age. The artist is not only influenced by the internet, but he also uses it as a material. The 2018 online project, Configurable Art, enables the viewer to build their own work. A sidebar holds a selection of Pantone’s designs which the user can drag and drop to create their own unique compositions. By transforming viewers into creators, Pantone destabilises a singular artist-artwork relationship, and instead creates a platform for collaboration powered by technology. By sharing his practice to whom-ever may choose to use the website, the work performs an act of democratisation which calls back to the libertarian and anarchist origins of the internet itself.
