This series draws upon Hokusai’s Ukiyo-e, a quintessential style of traditional Japanese painting. More specifically, it appropriates imagery from his iconic 'Waterfalls' series. The coexistence of the familiar and the strange reveals a specificity that transcends universality – an act of artistic appropriation transformed into a profoundly subjective experience, inviting personal reflection and revealing the aesthetics of paradox.
