Bio
Seth Armstrong is a Los Angeles-born artist known for vibrant urban landscapes and narrative portraits, exploring intimacy and hyperrealism through his breathtaking depictions of changing light. He discovered the tactile qualities of oil paint while studying in Holland, and has been creating predominantly in this medium ever since.
Armstrong has worked extensively as a commercial illustrator, collaborating with major artists such as Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj. While his early work focussed on more figurative subjects, Armstrong has particularly blossomed in his paintings of his home city, where he finds endless inspiration in its vertical displays of colour and life.
His work has been widely exhibited across the US and Europe, with features at Unit London (UK), Evoke Contemporary (Santa Fe, NM), ThinkSpace Gallery (Los Angeles), Spoke Art Gallery (NY/SF), Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Urban Nation Contemporary Urban Art Museum (Berlin), as well as international art fairs such as SCOPE, the LA Art Fair, and Moniker in London.
