Two mature masterpieces by Lucian Freud become a pair of new limited edition prints from his Estate.
These two portraits belong to Freud’s later period, marked by dense impasto and bodily presence. Double Portrait, 1988-90 captures a tender moment between the sitter and the family dog Pluto, their poses revealing the hours of stillness required for Freud’s demanding painting-from-life process. Self Portrait (Reflection), 2002 shows the artist aged 70 at the height of his creative powers, often working into the small hours of the night during this period.
Created with Lucian Freud Estate at Make-Ready, our London print house, this pair of limited edition prints on 310gsm Hahnemühle German Etching paper faithfully captures the psychological depth of Freud's original oils.
These prints are two of four limited editions celebrating Freud's portraiture from 1953 to 2002.
