An optical illusion enhances a bold and enigmatic portrait in a new limited-edition silkscreen print.

Prismatic Visions is a quintessential work from the British artist, a visual embodiment of his interest in identities hidden and revealed.

Printed in 32 layers across 18 colours, this edition was carefully crafted in close collaboration with the artist at our London fine art print studio, Make-Ready, emulating the rich, collaged surfaces of his mixed-media canvases, with a hand-finished collage element on each print. The result is an intricate silkscreen print finished with highly tactile texture pyramids that create a subtle optical shift, allowing colours to transform depending on the viewer's perspective.

Collectors who buy a print will have the chance to win one of ten unique special editions, each hand-painted and finished with additional collage elements by the artist.

Behind the scenes

A closer look inside Make–Ready, where Paul Insect hand-finishes Prismatic Visions, combining collage with groundbreaking texture pyramids formed through layers of cured ink.

Printmakers at Make-Ready in London worked closely with Paul to expand the repertoire of processes and materials found in his editions to date. The result is Paul's latest limited edition print, Prismatic Visions.

Paul Insect in his studio
Paul Insect22 collaborationsBritish artist Paul Insect rose to fame in the ‘90s for his pivotal role in the London street art scene. Since then, he’s become a mainstay of British contemporary art – bringing the influence of his DIY roots into his studio practice. In many ways, Insect looks a lot like his paintings: his graphic, mixed-media portraits wear masks that cover their faces, and so does he. “There are two sides to people,” Insect explains, “the side you want everyone to see and the side you would rather keep to yourself.” For Insect, the side he’d rather keep to himself is his appearance, staying anonymous by covering his face online and in interviews. He prefers his art to speak for itself – and the unique, effervescent blend of portraiture, Pop Art, Dada and street art certainly has a life of its own.
