Ai Weiwei's iconic middle finger is now a new luminous limited edition sculpture.

In his landmark series Study of Perspective, Ai Weiwei photographed himself giving the finger to historic landmarks worldwide. The series began in Tiananmen Square in 1995 and has since taken on the Colosseum, the Eiffel Tower, and the White House, among countless others.

For Ai Weiwei, the middle finger represents our collective right to express individual beliefs – a simple yet symbolic gesture that anyone can perform. This sculptural iteration is made from cast aluminium with a glow-in-the-dark finish, crafted in close collaboration with the artist.

We often forget that we have a middle finger. Or even if we know we have a middle finger, we misuse it. I think it's good to remember that this part of your body can point to something – an institution, or someone that resembles a power – to let them know, and let yourself know, that you exist.
