Robert Longo dances between power and patriotism with a pair of silkscreen editions launching in support of the Louisiana Museum.

Untitled (Eric) revisits the iconic "Men in the Cities" series which took the art world by storm in the late 70s and early 80s. The images of contorted bodies, suspended between pain and pleasure, became emblematic of the Pictures Generation and marked a new era in image-making.

Untitled (Falling Flag) is taken from Robert’s recent exploration of democracy and power. For Robert, the work is about “revealing a void – it’s a curtain falling, and nothing exists beyond.”

Each edition is a celebration of the capabilities of the silkscreen process. The two works were intricately transposed from original charcoal drawings to print, via medium-format transparencies. This process allowed the complexity of the dark charcoal to come to life in print with a hyper-realistic grain texture.
