Peering from behind her hand, Dove is fearful yet courageous.
Tahnee Lonsdale painted Dove to represent one of us. Tied down by burdensome emotions, the celestial figure is painted crouched down to the earth – seeking guidance. Her name is chosen as a manifestation of peace with which doves are associated. Building her colour palettes with trial and error, Lonsdale layers phthalo green on a base of orange. The print showcases the variations in the shades of green, from off-black when layered, to mint when mixed with white.
“I want Dove to communicate the feeling of a deep well. Endlessness. A sense that all your self is within that one figure.”
