This hand-finished, glow-in-the-dark edition forms part of Pejac’s ambitious new project, SELF-DEFENCE.

Translating 12 original paintings by the artist, the series depicts a day in the life of an icebreaker ship, circling endlessly through a frozen polar landscape. The icebreaker moves counterclockwise, representing a 12-hour countdown. Each print represents a different hour of the day, as the vessel traces its path like a hand on an imaginary clock.

This glow-in-the-dark special edition of the 28-colour silkscreen features a hand-finished beam of light from the ship’s bow and a luminescent Aurora Borealis – applied in Pejac´s studio in Madrid to each individual print using spray and stencil techniques. Edition one of three also includes a hand-finished submerged ship, available via draw entry from 2 February to 6 February.

The team at Make-Ready, our specialist fine art print studio in London, have translated the artist’s original works to a result the artist described as the “highest possible level of fidelity and detail, achieved thanks to the exceptional technical work, meticulous adjustments and absolute precision at every stage.”

It's increasingly clear that if we don't begin to relate to nature and its resources differently, our days in this world are numbered. However, I try not to forget that nature is much stronger than humans, that it was here long before us, and that despite natural disasters and the immense devastation we cause, nature will always survive.
