I tend to hand the creative to my subjects. Adit Ajhok Deng is amazing, and someone I had wanted to work with for a long time. For me it was about allowing her to feel comfortable – creating that space for her to express herself.

Back turned, Monica embodies Gabriel Moses’ vision of a muse in a limited edition photographic print.
Sultry and softly-lit, Moses shrouds Monica in red. The image epitomises his ability to build timeless images that revisit the same world again and again, yet capture the individual spirit of his subjects. This image was created in close collaboration with the photographers’ model and muse, Ade. Moses set out to create an environment where she could express herself freely and counts the resulting image amongst his favourites.
Monica (2024) belongs to the series Regina, a photographic tribute by Moses to the women who have and continue to shape his world.
