Thank You, Plastic (Cup Noodle) by Stickymonger re-imagines the familiar bodega bag as a surreal vignette of everyday life in New York.
Printed on recycled plastic, the convenience of plastic culture is contrasted against the pretence of environmental damage. The edition experiments with techniques of layering spot varnish upon the plastic, bringing realistic 3D texture to the opaque creases of the bag. A nonchalant girl eats her routine instant noodles - the consequences of her habits falling around her.
“Easily disposable, yet once lost, we notice the sense of absence of plastic because of the incompleteness.”
