A cascading waterfall becomes a portal for reflection in a new limited edition print by Tomás Sánchez.
In many of his landscapes, Tomás introduces small meditating figures that represent the highest states of consciousness. Here, he depicts one such figure, captivated by nature's majesty. Through a canopy of treetops rendered in hyperrealistic detail, Tomás bathes the scene in the warm glow of golden hour – a time sacred to his meditation practice and symbolic of the cycles of "beginnings and endings to which we are all connected".
The edition meticulously translates the rich colours of one of Tomás's immersive oil paintings into print. Throughout the process, printmakers at Make-Ready focused on achieving exceptional fidelity and rich colouration – both critical objectives of Tomás’s work.

Part of Volumen Uno in the 80s, a movement that resisted the heavily censored Cuban art of the time, he has since received international recognition, with auction prices over USD 600,000. Inspired by the Romantics and his daily meditation practice, Tomás paints the wild beauty of his homeland, as well as harrowing panoramic views of garbage dumps. The works are incredibly detailed with a lush tropical palette, encompassing the physical wonder of the natural world, its immense spiritual power, and humankind's tendency to destroy it. Steeped in allegory, Tomás's art reinterprets traditional modes of painting to create an uncanny paradise that is at once hopeful and threatening.
