In Golden Afternoon, a pink-shifted piano sprawls across a field of green.
The keys start to fade and suddenly vanish into the scene – like transitioning from a lullaby into a dream. The work is titled after the preface poem to Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll that describes a joyful and idyllic childhood. In Disney's adaptation, the poem is set to music and sung by a chorus of flowers. In his, Alpha Centauri Kid presents child-like wonder through the filter of nostalgia.
The 12k digital artwork was transformed into a physical object by printmakers at Make-Ready in London, who worked closely with a.c.k. to introduce layers of texture and glossy highlights to the surface of the print.
