In Muse blossoms, Alpha Centauri Kid locates his elusive source of inspiration.
When beginning his latest body of work, a.c.k. did not feel the guidance of The Muse. He listened for Her whispers in music, and sought Her approval through artistic trial and error. When he found the right path, he realised it had taken him full circle – the work would be about inspiration itself, personified by his Muse.
Muse blossoms depicts The Muse as She once appeared to a.c.k. “This is Her, playing my Steinway.” We see only a slither of Her red gown, and Her guiding hand, resting on the keys. Over the scene, a.c.k. superimposes his reinterpretation of Almond Blossoms (1890) – borrowing Van Gogh’s seminal series as a symbol for artistic devotion.
The 12k digital artwork was transformed into a physical object by printmakers at Make-Ready in London, who worked closely with a.c.k. to introduce layers of texture and glossy highlights to the surface of the print.
