SELF-DEFENCE

“I try not to forget that nature is much stronger than humans and that, despite natural disasters and the immense devastation we cause, nature will always survive.”

Upcoming release

We're delighted to unveil our second collaboration with Pejac. SELF-DEFENCE is a meditation on nature's resilience in the face of human intervention – continuing the artist's poignant exploration of our relationship with the environment.

The release unfolds across 12 unique prints, capturing an icebreaker vessel moving counterclockwise, representing a countdown, at 12 different times of day as it cuts through a frozen landscape. This sequential structure emerged from a desire for the collector to become an active participant in the narrative – able to select not just an image, but a moment in time.

Two versions are available:

  • The main editions: 12 main editions, each of 25 hand-finished prints, show the icebreaker at hourly intervals along its circular path, from 12 noon to 1 am. A beam of light on the ship’s bow has been added in Pejac's studio by hand in every print, using spray and stencil over the ship’s spotlight.

  • The special editions: 12 special editions, each of 3 hand-finished prints, in which a beam of light on the ship’s bow and a luminescent spray creating a glow-in-the-dark Aurora Borealis in the sky above the boat have been applied by hand in Pejac’s studio. The first of the three prints in each edition contains an additional hand-finished touch: a submerged ship, poking out of the water.

Details on how and when to collect are below.
