Diptych

Diptych

A diptych refers to an item consisting of two flat plates that are typically connected by a hinge to create a pair.

A diptych is a work of art, either a painting or a relief carving, composed of two parts that are commonly linked together with hinges. These pieces are typically of modest dimensions and, when used as altarpieces, were intended for private religious contemplation. Diptychs are designed with hinges, allowing them to be closed like a book, serving as a protective cover for the interior paintings.

Gemma Rolls-Bentley's collection

For Gemma Rolls-Bentley, collecting begins with understanding your own values and what you represent. As a curator and creative consultant, this is how she approaches her own collection as well as those she builds for others – guided by the idea that art should hold real meaning for those who spend time with it. The art that fills her South London home is a reflection of the queer family she is creating with her wife, poet and dementia specialist, Danielle Wilde.

Diptych

Javier Calleja composes a diptych from life’s possibilities and complexities. On the left, It wasn’t me is grounded in mischief that exists somewhere between innocence and malevolence. On the right, Floating conveys the carefree nature of daydreams and a sense of limitless potential. Together, Calleja builds a “simple but not easy” narrative that suspends each figure in a single moment from a story.

Each print is a 15 colour engrave, using 4 photopolymer etching plates with a final colour applied by hand by the printmaker. The artisanal production process will begin as soon the draw for the edition is held, and will take 16-20 weeks.
The diptych is made up of two prints, each an edition of 250.

Soul to Soul

Johnson Tsang portrays the forces of love with a diptych of kissing sculptures. The surreal emotions associated with love are depicted through the pair of wall hanging sculptures; two characters’ souls connecting to create one work. Their outward looking facial expressions represent the joy and peace associated with love, whilst the two connected souls show the physicality of human attraction. Tsang reflects that no matter how long we live, we will always need love to find happiness and peace, in the same way that we require oxygen to survive.“There is only one place in the world where we can find peace, and that is our soul. And the soul needs nutrients to grow, and that is love.”

Metropolis - prints

Metropolis is a long-form generative art collection by Michael Kozlowski (mpkoz). Avant Arte is partnering with the artist to enable collectors of Metropolis the option to purchase high-quality physical prints of the original NFT artworks.Metropolis explores node-based systems, which are critical to computing, blockchains, logistics, and most apparently, the formation and function of cities. The artworks in Metropolis are built from five primary “city” traits, New York City, Berlin, London, Mexico City, and Los Angeles. These traits determine compositions and backgrounds which stylistically represent their respective city.Every owner of an online edition of Metropolis had the option to journey to the city featured in their edition to mint a second, visually cohesive diptych piece. Avant Arte will be offering prints of the online editions, the diptych editions, or a combination of both. The price listed is for a single artwork. Combined diptych prints can be added at checkout. The title of each print corresponds with the token ID of the NFT, tethered together by an authenticating QR code. Every print is a 1/1 and once purchased, cannot be printed again. See below for the claim status of each edition.

Parra's studio, with Parra at the centre, his back to the camera as he works on the large painting takes centre stage, showing a faceless blue woman in a striped dress, painted in red, purple, blue and teal. The studio is full of brightly coloured paints, with a large window on the right and a patterned rug across the floor under the painting.
